Privacy policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

Conto helps you split the bill at a restaurant. It needs no account and has no ads or tracking tools.

Receipt photo

The photo is read on the phone with iOS text recognition and is never sent to any server.

Bills shared with a code

When you create a shared bill, or join one with a code, only the data needed to make it work is sent to the Conto service: the receipt items, the currency, the names you type for the people at the table and who had what. The bill can only be opened by people with the six-digit code and is deleted from the service within 25 hours of being created; whoever created it can delete it sooner. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used for anything else.

Bills only on this phone

They stay on your device and you can delete them in the app.

Payments

Conto does not handle payments and does not move money. If the person who paid the bill enters their details in the app to get paid back (Revolut or PayPal username, Satispay number, IBAN), they stay on their phone and only end up in the messages they choose to send. The “Choose how to pay” link holds those details in the part after the # sign, which the browser does not send to the service: the service never receives or stores them.

In bills shared with a code, the person who paid can show their payment details and the amounts to pay back to the others at the table: in that case they are sent to the service together with the bill, can only be seen by people with the code and are deleted with the bill, within 25 hours of its creation.
